Lamentations 4:16-18

16 The [a]anger of the Lord hath scattered them, he will no more regard them: [b]they reverenced not the face of the Priest, nor had compassion on the Elders.
17 While we waited for our vain help, our eyes failed: for in our waiting we looked for [c]a nation that could not save us.
18 They hunt our steps, that we cannot go in our streets: our end is near, our days are fulfilled, for our end is come.

16 The Lord himself has scattered them;
he no longer watches over them.(A)
The priests are shown no honor,

17 Moreover, our eyes failed,

from our towers we watched
for a nation(F) that could not save us.
18 People stalked us at every step,
so we could not walk in our streets.
Our end was near, our days were numbered,
