²⁸ You shall not make any cuts in your ^[a]body for the ^[b]dead, nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the Lord.

^5 (A)They shall not shave any area on their heads bald, ^(B)nor shave off the edges of their beards, ^(C)nor make any cuts in their flesh.

⁶ Both ^(A)great people and small will die in this land; they will not be buried, people will not mourn for them, nor will anyone ^(B)make cuts on himself or have his head ^(C)shaved for them.

⁵ that eighty men ^(A)came from ^(B)Shechem, from ^(C)Shiloh, and from ^(D)Samaria with ^(E)their beards shaved off, their clothes torn, and ^[a]their bodies ^(F)gashed, having grain offerings and incense in their hands to bring to the ^(G)house of the Lord.
