Leviticus 22:8-10

New American Standard Bible

⁸He shall not eat ^(A)an animal which dies or is torn by animals, becoming unclean by it; I am the Lord. ⁹They shall therefore perform their ^(B)duty to Me, so that ^(C)they do not bear sin because of it and die by it because they profane it; I am the Lord who sanctifies them.

¹⁰‘^(D)No ^[a]layman, however, is to eat the holy gift; a foreign resident with the priest or a hired worker shall not eat the holy gift.

⁹“‘The priests are to perform my service^(E) in such a way that they do not become guilty^(F) and die^(G) for treating it with contempt. I am the Lord, who makes them holy.^(H)

¹⁰“‘No one outside a priest’s family may eat the sacred offering, nor may the guest of a priest or his hired worker eat it.^(I)
