The Feast of Tabernacles^(A)

³³ Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ³⁴ “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ^(B)‘The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days to the Lord. ³⁵ On the first day there shall be a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work on it. ³⁶ For seven days you shall offer an ^(C)offering made by fire to the Lord. ^(D)On the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation, and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord. It is a ^(E)sacred^[a] assembly, and you shall do no customary work on it.

^37 (F)‘These are the feasts of the Lord which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire to the Lord, a burnt offering and a grain offering, a sacrifice and drink offerings, everything on its day— ^38 (G)besides the Sabbaths of the Lord, besides your gifts, besides all your vows, and besides all your freewill offerings which you give to the Lord.

³⁹ ‘Also on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have ^(H)gathered in the fruit of the land, you shall keep the feast of the Lord for seven days; on the first day there shall be a sabbath-rest, and on the eighth day a sabbath-rest. ⁴⁰ And ^(I)you shall take for yourselves on the first day the ^[b]fruit of beautiful trees, branches of palm trees, the boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook; ^(J)and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days. ^41 (K)You shall keep it as a feast to the Lord for seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your generations. You shall celebrate it in the seventh month. ^42 (L)You shall dwell in ^[c]booths for seven days. ^(M)All who are native Israelites shall dwell in booths, ^43 (N)that your generations may ^(O)know that I made the children of Israel dwell in booths when ^(P)I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.’ ”

¹⁴ And they found written in the Law, which the Lord had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in ^(A)booths^[a] during the feast of the seventh month, ¹⁵ and ^(B)that they should announce and proclaim in all their cities and ^(C)in Jerusalem, saying, “Go out to the mountain, and ^(D)bring olive branches, branches of oil trees, myrtle branches, palm branches, and branches of leafy trees, to make booths, as it is written.”

¹⁶ Then the people went out and brought them and made themselves booths, each one on the ^(E)roof of his house, or in their courtyards or the courts of the house of God, and in the open square of the ^(F)Water Gate ^(G)and in the open square of the Gate of Ephraim. ¹⁷ So the whole assembly of those who had returned from the captivity made ^[b]booths and sat under the booths; for since the days of Joshua the son of Nun until that day the children of Israel had not done so. And there was very ^(H)great gladness. ¹⁸ Also ^(I)day by day, from the first day until the last day, he read from the Book of the Law of God. And they kept the feast ^(J)seven days; and on the ^(K)eighth day there was a sacred assembly, according to the prescribed manner.

The Nations Worship the King

¹⁶ And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall ^(A)go up from year to year to ^(B)worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep ^(C)the Feast of Tabernacles.
