Punishment for Disobedience
14 “‘But if you will not listen to me and carry out all these commands,(A) 15 and if you reject my decrees and abhor my laws(B) and fail to carry out all my commands and so violate my covenant,(C) 16 then I will do this to you: I will bring on you sudden terror, wasting diseases and fever(D) that will destroy your sight and sap your strength.(E) You will plant seed in vain, because your enemies will eat it.(F) 17 I will set my face(G) against you so that you will be defeated(H) by your enemies;(I) those who hate you will rule over you,(J) and you will flee even when no one is pursuing you.(K)

14 The Levites shall recite to all the people of Israel in a loud voice:
15 “Cursed is anyone who makes an idol(B)—a thing detestable(C) to the Lord, the work of skilled hands—and sets it up in secret.”

16 “Cursed is anyone who dishonors their father or mother.”(E)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
17 “Cursed is anyone who moves their neighbor’s boundary stone.”(F)

18 “Cursed is anyone who leads the blind astray on the road.”(G)

19 “Cursed is anyone who withholds justice from the foreigner,(H) the fatherless or the widow.”(I)

22 “Cursed is anyone who sleeps with his sister, the daughter of his father or the daughter of his mother.”(L)

23 “Cursed is anyone who sleeps with his mother-in-law.”(M)

20 Cursed be he that lieth with his father's wife; because he uncovereth his father's skirt. And all the people shall say, Amen.
