⁶ Then Moses said to Aaron and his sons Eleazar and Ithamar,^(A) “Do not let your hair become unkempt^[a](B) and do not tear your clothes,^(C) or you will die and the Lord will be angry with the whole community.^(D) But your relatives, all the Israelites, may mourn^(E) for those the Lord has destroyed by fire.

² The names of the sons of Aaron were Nadab the firstborn^(A) and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.^(B)

³² The chief leader of the Levites was Eleazar^(A) son of Aaron, the priest. He was appointed over those who were responsible^(B) for the care of the sanctuary.^(C)

³⁷ “Tell Eleazar^(A) son of Aaron, the priest, to remove the censers^(B) from the charred remains and scatter the coals some distance away, for the censers are holy—

³⁹ So Eleazar the priest^(A) collected the bronze censers brought by those who had been burned to death,^(B) and he had them hammered out to overlay the altar,

⁶ (The Israelites traveled from the wells of Bene Jaakan to Moserah.^(A) There Aaron died^(B) and was buried, and Eleazar^(C) his son succeeded him as priest.^(D)

14 Now these are the areas the Israelites received as an inheritance^(A) in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar^(B) the priest, Joshua son of Nun and the heads of the tribal clans of Israel^(C) allotted^(D) to them.^(E)
