¹¹ “‘If, however, they cannot afford^(A) two doves or two young pigeons,^(B) they are to bring as an offering for their sin a tenth of an ephah^[a](C) of the finest flour^(D) for a sin offering. They must not put olive oil or incense on it, because it is a sin offering. ¹² They are to bring it to the priest, who shall take a handful of it as a memorial^[b] portion^(E) and burn it on the altar^(F) on top of the food offerings presented to the Lord. It is a sin offering. ¹³ In this way the priest will make atonement^(G) for them for any of these sins they have committed, and they will be forgiven. The rest of the offering will belong to the priest,^(H) as in the case of the grain offering.^(I)’”

⁷ In this way the priest will make atonement^(A) for them before the Lord, and they will be forgiven for any of the things they did that made them guilty.”

The Burnt Offering

⁸ The Lord said to Moses: ⁹ “Give Aaron and his sons this command: ‘These are the regulations for the burnt offering^(B): The burnt offering is to remain on the altar hearth throughout the night, till morning, and the fire must be kept burning on the altar.^{(C) 10} The priest shall then put on his linen clothes,^(D) with linen undergarments next to his body,^(E) and shall remove the ashes^(F) of the burnt offering that the fire has consumed on the altar and place them beside the altar. ¹¹ Then he is to take off these clothes and put on others, and carry the ashes outside the camp to a place that is ceremonially clean.^{(G) 12} The fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must not go out. Every morning the priest is to add firewood^(H) and arrange the burnt offering on the fire and burn the fat^(I) of the fellowship offerings^(J) on it. ¹³ The fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously; it must not go out.

The Grain Offering

¹⁴ “‘These are the regulations for the grain offering:^(K) Aaron’s sons are to bring it before the Lord, in front of the altar. ¹⁵ The priest is to take a handful of the finest flour and some olive oil, together with all the incense^(L) on the grain offering,^(M) and burn the memorial^[a] portion^(N) on the altar as an aroma pleasing to the Lord. ¹⁶ Aaron and his sons^(O) shall eat the rest^(P) of it, but it is to be eaten without yeast^(Q) in the sanctuary area;^(R) they are to eat it in the courtyard^(S) of the tent of meeting.^(T)

⁹ Every grain offering baked in an oven^(A) or cooked in a pan^(B) or on a griddle^(C) belongs to the priest who offers it, ¹⁰ and every grain offering, whether mixed with olive oil or dry, belongs equally to all the sons of Aaron.

The Fellowship Offering

¹¹ “‘These are the regulations for the fellowship offering anyone may present to the Lord:

¹² “‘If they offer it as an expression of thankfulness, then along with this thank offering^(D) they are to offer thick loaves^(E) made without yeast^(F) and with olive oil mixed in, thin loaves^(G) made without yeast and brushed with oil,^(H) and thick loaves of the finest flour well-kneaded and with oil mixed in. ¹³ Along with their fellowship offering of thanksgiving^(I) they are to present an offering with thick loaves of bread made with yeast.^{(J) 14} They are to bring one of each kind as an offering, a contribution to the Lord; it belongs to the priest who splashes the blood of the fellowship offering against the altar.

⁵ “Take the finest flour and bake twelve loaves of bread,^(A) using two-tenths of an ephah^[a](B) for each loaf. ⁶ Arrange them in two stacks, six in each stack, on the table of pure gold^(C) before the Lord. ⁷ By each stack put some pure incense^(D) as a memorial^[b] portion^(E) to represent the bread and to be a food offering presented to the Lord. ⁸ This bread is to be set out before the Lord regularly,^(F) Sabbath after Sabbath,^(G) on behalf of the Israelites, as a lasting covenant. ⁹ It belongs to Aaron and his sons,^(H) who are to eat it in the sanctuary area,^(I) because it is a most holy^(J) part of their perpetual share of the food offerings presented to the Lord.”

Supplementary Offerings

15 The Lord said to Moses, ² “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘After you enter the land I am giving you^(A) as a home ³ and you present to the Lord food offerings from the herd or the flock,^(B) as an aroma pleasing to the Lord^(C)—whether burnt offerings^(D) or sacrifices, for special vows or freewill offerings^(E) or festival offerings^(F)— ⁴ then the person who brings an offering shall present to the Lord a grain offering^(G) of a tenth of an ephah^[a] of the finest flour^(H) mixed with a quarter of a hin^[b] of olive oil. ⁵ With each lamb^(I) for the burnt offering or the sacrifice, prepare a quarter of a hin of wine^(J) as a drink offering.^(K)

⁶ “‘With a ram^(L) prepare a grain offering^(M) of two-tenths of an ephah^[c](N) of the finest flour mixed with a third of a hin^[d] of olive oil,^{(O) 7} and a third of a hin of wine^(P) as a drink offering.^(Q) Offer it as an aroma pleasing to the Lord.^(R)

⁸ “‘When you prepare a young bull^(S) as a burnt offering or sacrifice, for a special vow^(T) or a fellowship offering^(U) to the Lord, ⁹ bring with the bull a grain offering^(V) of three-tenths of an ephah^[e](W) of the finest flour mixed with half a hin^[f] of olive oil, ¹⁰ and also bring half a hin of wine^(X) as a drink offering.^(Y) This will be a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord.^{(Z) 11} Each bull or ram, each lamb or young goat, is to be prepared in this manner. ¹² Do this for each one, for as many as you prepare.^(AA)

¹³ “‘Everyone who is native-born^(AB) must do these things in this way when they present a food offering as an aroma pleasing to the Lord.^{(AC) 14} For the generations to come,^(AD) whenever a foreigner^(AE) or anyone else living among you presents a food^(AF) offering^(AG) as an aroma pleasing to the Lord, they must do exactly as you do. ¹⁵ The community is to have the same rules for you and for the foreigner residing among you; this is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come.^(AH) You and the foreigner shall be the same before the Lord: ¹⁶ The same laws and regulations will apply both to you and to the foreigner residing among you.^(AI)’”

¹⁷ The Lord said to Moses, ¹⁸ “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you enter the land to which I am taking you^{(AJ) 19} and you eat the food of the land,^(AK) present a portion as an offering to the Lord.^{(AL) 20} Present a loaf from the first of your ground meal^(AM) and present it as an offering from the threshing floor.^{(AN) 21} Throughout the generations to come^(AO) you are to give this offering to the Lord from the first of your ground meal.^(AP)

³ In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering^(A) to the Lord.^{(B) 4} And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions^(C) from some of the firstborn of his flock.^(D) The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering,^{(E) 5} but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.
