⁸ And he placed the breastpiece on him, and ^(A)in the breastpiece he put the Urim and the Thummim.

²¹ And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall enquire for him ^(A)by the judgement of the Urim before the Lord. At his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he and all the people of Israel with him, the whole congregation.”

⁸ And ^(A)of Levi he said,

⁶ And when Saul enquired of the Lord, ^(A)the Lord did not answer him, either ^(B)by dreams, or ^(C)by Urim, or by prophets.

⁹ David knew that Saul was plotting harm against him. And he said to Abiathar the priest, ^(A)“Bring the ephod here.”

^7 (A)And David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech, “Bring me the ephod.” So Abiathar brought the ephod to David. ^8 (B)And David enquired of the Lord, “Shall I pursue after this ^(C)band? Shall I overtake them?” He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake ^(D)and shall surely rescue.”
