⁴⁹ And look, I am sending you^[a] what my Father promised.^(A) As for you, stay in the city^[b] until you are empowered^[c](B) from on high.”

¹⁶ And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor^[a](A) to be with you forever.

The Counselor’s Ministry

²⁶ “When the Counselor^(A) comes, the one I will send to you from the Father^(B) —the Spirit of truth^(C) who proceeds from the Father—he will testify about me.

⁷ Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth.^(A) It is for your benefit that I go away, because if I don’t go away the Counselor will not come to you. If I go, I will send him to you.^(B)

³³ Therefore, since he has been exalted to the right hand of God^(A) and has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit,^(B) he has poured out^(C) what you both see and hear.
