13 And the one said to them, “Be collecting nothing more than the amount having been commanded”. 14 And ones serving-as-soldiers also were questioning him, saying, “And us, what should we do?” And he said to them, “Do not violently-extort[a] anyone, nor extort-with-false-charges. And be content with your wages[b]”.

13 “Don’t collect any more than you are required to,”(A) he told them.
14 Then some soldiers asked him, “And what should we do?”
He replied, “Don’t extort money and don’t accuse people falsely(B)—be content with your pay.”
15 The people were waiting expectantly and were all wondering in their hearts if John(C) might possibly be the Messiah.(D)
