24 Then Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, a prophet is not accepted in his hometown. 25 But I tell you the truth, there were many widows in Israel during the time of Elijah. It did not rain in Israel for three and one-half years, and there was no food anywhere in the whole country. 26 But Elijah was sent to none of those widows, only to a widow in Zarephath, a town in Sidon.

24 “Truly I tell you,” he continued, “no prophet is accepted in his hometown.(A) 25 I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land.(B) 26 Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon.(C)
