²¹ But he replied to them, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear and do the word of God.”^(A)

³² They said this so that Jesus’s words might be fulfilled indicating what kind of death he was going to die.^(A)

¹¹ The people here were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, since they received the word with eagerness and examined^[a] the Scriptures^(A) daily to see if these things were so.

¹² For the word of God is living and effective^(A) and sharper than any double-edged sword,^(B) penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.^(C)
