⁵⁰ But I have a baptism to undergo,^(A) and how it consumes^(B) me until it is finished!^(C)

The Third Prediction of His Death

³¹ Then^(A) he took the Twelve aside and told them, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem.^(B) Everything that is written^(C) through the prophets about the Son of Man will be accomplished.^(D)

³⁷ For I tell you, what is written must be fulfilled in me: ^[a] And he was counted among the lawless.^[b](A) Yes, what is written about me is coming to its fulfillment.”^(B)

³⁰ When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished.”^(A) Then bowing his head, he gave up his spirit.^(B)

²⁹ When they had carried out all that had been written about him, they took him down from the tree and put him in a tomb.^(A)

¹⁴ For by one offering he has perfected forever those who are sanctified.

⁴⁰ since God had provided something better for us, so that they would not be made perfect without us.^(A)
