12 The man who does this might bring offerings to the Lord of heaven’s armies. But the Lord will still separate him from the community of Israel.

13 This is another thing you do. You cover the Lord’s altar with your tears. You cry and moan because the Lord does not accept your offerings. He is not pleased with what you bring. 14 You ask, “Why?” It is because the Lord sees how you treated the wife you married when you were young. You broke your promise with her. She was your partner. You promised yourself to her.

12 As for the man who does this, whoever he may be, may the Lord remove(A) him from the tents of Jacob[a](B)—even though he brings an offering(C) to the Lord Almighty.

13 Another thing you do: You flood the Lord’s altar with tears.(D) You weep and wail(E) because he no longer looks with favor(F) on your offerings or accepts them with pleasure from your hands.(G) 14 You ask,(H) “Why?” It is because the Lord is the witness(I) between you and the wife of your youth.(J) You have been unfaithful to her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant.(K)
