Mark 1:2-4

2 As it is written in the Prophets, “Behold, I send My Messenger before your face, Who shall prepare your way before you.
3 “The voice of him who cries in the wilderness, is, ‘Prepare the way of the Lord! Make His paths straight!’”
4 John baptized in the wilderness, and preached the baptism of repentance, for remission of sins.

2 as it is written in Isaiah the prophet:
“I will send my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way”[a](A)—
3 “a voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.’”[b](B)
4 And so John the Baptist(C) appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance(D) for the forgiveness of sins.(E)
