A voice of one crying out in the wilderness:(A)
Prepare the way for the Lord;(B)
make His paths straight!(C)[a]

John came baptizing[b](D) in the wilderness(E) and preaching a baptism of repentance[c](F) for the forgiveness(G) of sins.(H) The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem(I) were flocking to him, and they were baptized by him in the Jordan(J) River as they confessed(K) their sins.(L)
