Mark 12:25-27 The Passion Translation (TPT)

25 For when they rise from the dead, men and women will not marry, just like the angels of heaven don’t marry. 26 Now, concerning the resurrection, haven’t you read in the Torah[a] what God said to Moses at the burning bush? ‘I AM the living God, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?[b] 27 God is not the God of the dead, but of the living, and you are all badly mistaken!”[c]

Footnotes:

  1. Mark 12:26 Or “in the book of Moses.”
  2. Mark 12:26 See Ex. 3:6. The implication Jesus is making is that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were all alive (in glory) when God spoke to Moses in the burning bush.
  3. Mark 12:27 Or “you wander off the path” (of truth).

Mark 12:25-27 New International Version (NIV)

25 When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven. 26 Now about the dead rising—have you not read in the Book of Moses, in the account of the burning bush, how God said to him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’[a]? 27 He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken!”
