43 there came Joseph of Arimathaea, a councillor of honorable estate, who also himself was looking for the kingdom of God; and he boldly went in unto Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus. 44 And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether [a]he had been any while dead. 45 And when he learned it of the centurion, he granted the corpse to Joseph.

43 Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent member of the Council,(A) who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God,(B) went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. 44 Pilate was surprised to hear that he was already dead. Summoning the centurion, he asked him if Jesus had already died. 45 When he learned from the centurion(C) that it was so, he gave the body to Joseph.
