⁴ When they come from the marketplace,^(A) they do not eat unless they have washed.^(B) And there are many other customs they have received and keep, like the washing of cups, jugs, copper utensils, and dining couches.^[a](C))

³⁹ But the Lord said to him: “Now you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed^(A) and evil.^(B)
