¹⁴ “Now ^(A)when you see the ^(B)abomination of desolation standing where it should not be—^[a]let the ^[b]reader understand—then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains.

²⁰ “But when you see Jerusalem ^(A)surrounded by armies, then ^[a]recognize that her desolation is near.

⁴⁸ If we let Him go on like this, all the people will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take over both our ^[a](A)place and our nation.”

¹³ They put forward ^(A)false witnesses who said, “This man does not stop ^[a]speaking against this ^(B)holy place and the Law; ¹⁴ for we have heard him say that ^(C)this Nazarene, Jesus, will destroy this place and change ^(D)the customs which Moses handed down to us.” ¹⁵ And all who were sitting in the ^[b](E)Council stared at him, and they saw his face, which was like the face of an angel.

²⁸ crying out, “Men of Israel, help! ^(A)This is the man who instructs everyone everywhere against our people and the Law and this place; and besides, he has even brought Greeks into the temple and has ^(B)defiled this holy place!”
