²¹She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,^[a]^(A) because he will save his people from their sins.”^(B)

Matthew 1:21 Jesus is the Greek form of Joshua, which means the Lord saves.

¹⁷For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

¹⁷For God did not send his Son into the world^(A) to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.^(B)
