²⁵ It is enough for a disciple to become like his teacher and a slave like his master. If they called the head of the house ‘Beelzebul,’ how much more the members of his household!^(A)

²⁴ When the Pharisees heard this, they said, “The man drives out demons only by Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons.”^(A)

²⁷ And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, who is it your sons drive them out by? For this reason they will be your judges.^(A)

¹⁵ But some of them said, “He drives out demons by Beelzebul,^(A) the ruler^(B) of the demons!”^{(C) 16} And others, as a test,^(D) were demanding of Him a sign^(E) from heaven.

¹⁷ Knowing their thoughts,^(F) He told them: “Every kingdom divided^(G) against itself is headed for destruction, and a house divided against itself falls. ¹⁸ If Satan^(H) also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom^(I) stand? For you say I drive out demons by Beelzebul. ¹⁹ And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, who is it your sons^[a](J) drive them out by? For this reason they will be your judges.
