¹⁸ For John did not come eating or drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon!’^(A)

² They observed that some of His disciples were eating their bread with unclean^(A)—that is, unwashed—hands.

⁵ Then the Pharisees^(A) and the scribes^(B) asked Him, “Why don’t Your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders,^(C) instead of eating bread with ritually unclean^[a] hands?”

⁹ Don’t you know that the unrighteous^(A) will not inherit God’s kingdom?^(B) Do not be deceived: No sexually immoral people, idolaters,^(C) adulterers,^(D) or anyone practicing homosexuality,^{[a](E) 10} no thieves,^(F) greedy^(G) people, drunkards, verbally abusive people,^(H) or swindlers^(I) will inherit God’s kingdom.
