³ But He said to them, “Have you not read what David did when he became hungry, he and his companions— ⁴ how he entered the house of God, and ^(A)they ate the ^[a]consecrated bread, which was not lawful for him to eat nor for those with him, but for the priests alone?

³ And Jesus, answering them, said, “Have you not even read ^(A)what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him, ⁴ how he entered the house of God, and took and ate the ^[a]consecrated bread, which ^(B)is not lawful for anyone to eat except the priests alone, and gave it to his companions?”
