His Death and Resurrection Predicted

²¹ From^(A) then on Jesus began to point out to his disciples that it was necessary for him to go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, be killed, and be raised the third day.^(B)

The Second Prediction of His Death

²² As^(A) they were gathering together^[a] in Galilee, Jesus told them, “The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men. ²³ They will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised up.” And they were deeply distressed.

¹⁹ They will hand him over to the Gentiles^(A) to be mocked, flogged,^[a] and crucified, and on the third day he will be raised.”^[b]

³¹ Then^(A) he began to teach them that it was necessary for the Son of Man^(B) to suffer many things and be rejected^(C) by the elders,^(D) chief priests, and scribes,^(E) be killed, and rise^(F) after three days.^(G)

³⁴ and they will mock him, spit on him, flog^[a] him, and kill him, and he will rise^(A) after three days.”^(B)
