Matthew 20:21-23

21 “What d’you want?” he asked her.
“It’s about these two sons of mine,” she said to him. “Please say that, when you’re king, they may sit, one at your right hand and one at your left.”
22 “You don’t know what you’re asking for,” said Jesus. “Can you two drink the cup I’m going to drink?”
“Yes, we can,” they replied.
23 “Well,” said Jesus, “so you will drink my cup, then! But sitting at my right and left is not something I can grant. That’s up to my father to give to whoever he has in mind.”

New International Version
21 “What is it you want?” he asked.
She said, “Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom.”(A)
22 “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said to them. “Can you drink the cup(B) I am going to drink?”
“We can,” they answered.
23 Jesus said to them, “You will indeed drink from my cup,(C) but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father.”
