The Lesson of the Withered Fig Tree^(A)

²⁰^(B)And when the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How did the fig tree wither away so soon?”

²¹So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, ^(C)if you have faith and ^(D)do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, ^(E)but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done. ²²And ^(F)whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”

²⁰When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?” they asked.

²¹Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt,^(A) not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. ²²If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for^(B) in prayer.”
