⁴⁶ They looked for a way to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowd because the people held that he was a prophet.^(A)

¹⁶ They were all filled with awe^(A) and praised God.^(B) “A great prophet^(C) has appeared among us,” they said. “God has come to help his people.”^(D)

³³ In any case, I must press on today and tomorrow and the next day—for surely no prophet^(A) can die outside Jerusalem!

¹⁹ “What things?” he asked.

“About Jesus of Nazareth,”^(A) they replied. “He was a prophet,^(B) powerful in word and deed before God and all the people.

¹⁹ “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet.^(A)

¹⁴ After the people saw the sign^(A) Jesus performed, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”^(B)

⁴⁰ On hearing his words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.”^(A)

¹⁷ Then they turned again to the blind man, “What have you to say about him? It was your eyes he opened.”

The man replied, “He is a prophet.”^(A)

¹⁵ Others said, “He is Elijah.”^(A)

And still others claimed, “He is a prophet,^(B) like one of the prophets of long ago.”^(C)

⁸ others that Elijah had appeared,^(A) and still others that one of the prophets of long ago had come back to life.^(B)
