²¹They said, `Caesar's'. Then he said to them, `Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar. And give to God what belongs to God.'

²²When they heard that, they were surprised. They left him and went away.

²³The same day some of the Sadducees came to Jesus. They say that people do not rise from death.

²¹“Caesar’s,” they replied.

Then he said to them, “So give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s,^(A) and to God what is God’s.”

²²When they heard this, they were amazed. So they left him and went away.^(B)

²³That same day the Sadducees,^(D) who say there is no resurrection,^(E) came to him with a question.
