⁶⁷ Then they spat in his face and struck him, and some slapped him,^(A)

⁶⁸ saying, “Prophesy to us, you Messiah!^[a] Who is it that struck you?”

⁶⁵ Some began to spit on him, to blindfold him, and to strike him, saying to him, “Prophesy!” The guards also took him and beat him.^(A)

²² When he had said this, one of the police standing nearby struck Jesus on the face, saying, “Is that how you answer the high priest?”^(A)

²³ Jesus answered, “If I have spoken wrongly, testify to the wrong. But if I have spoken rightly, why do you strike me?”^(A)
