Discipleship Tested

¹⁸ Now when Jesus saw a crowd around Him, ^(A)He gave orders to depart to the other side of the sea.

Jesus Calms the Storm

^23 (A)When He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. ²⁴ And behold, a ^[a]violent storm developed on the sea, so that the boat was being covered by the waves; but Jesus Himself was asleep. ²⁵ And they came to Him and woke Him, saying, “^(B)Save us, Lord; we are perishing!” ²⁶ He *said to them, “Why are you ^[b]afraid, ^(C)you men of little faith?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and ^[c]it became perfectly calm. ²⁷ The men were amazed, and said, “What kind of a man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”

Jesus Stills the Sea

^22 (A)Now on one of those days ^[a]Jesus and His disciples got into a boat, and He said to them, “Let’s cross over to the other side of ^(B)the lake.” So they launched out.

²⁵ And He said to them, “Where is your faith?” But they were fearful and amazed, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?”
