A Girl Restored to Life and a Woman Healed(A)

18 (B)While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live.” 19 So Jesus arose and followed him, and so did His (C)disciples.

20 (D)And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and (E)touched the hem of His garment. 21 For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.” 22 But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; (F)your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour.

23 (G)When Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw (H)the flute players and the noisy crowd wailing, 24 He said to them, (I)“Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.” And they ridiculed Him. 25 But when the crowd was put outside, He went in and (J)took her by the hand, and the girl arose. 26 And the (K)report of this went out into all that land.

Jesus Raises a Dead Girl and Heals a Sick Woman(A)

18 While he was saying this, a synagogue leader came and knelt before him(B) and said, “My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her,(C) and she will live.” 19 Jesus got up and went with him, and so did his disciples.

20 Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak.(D) 21 She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.”

22 Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart,(E) daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.”(F) And the woman was healed at that moment.(G)

23 When Jesus entered the synagogue leader’s house and saw the noisy crowd and people playing pipes,(H) 24 he said, “Go away. The girl is not dead(I) but asleep.”(J) But they laughed at him. 25 After the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up.(K) 26 News of this spread through all that region.(L)

41 (A)And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue. And he fell down at Jesus’ feet and begged Him to come to his house, 42 for he had an only daughter about twelve years of age, and she (B)was dying.

But as He went, the multitudes thronged Him. 43 (C)Now a woman, having a (D)flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, 44 came from behind and (E)touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.

45 And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?”

When all denied it, Peter [a]and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, [b]and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’

46 But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived (F)power going out from Me.” 47 Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately.

48 And He said to her, “Daughter, [c]be of good cheer; (G)your faith has made you well. (H)Go in peace.”

49 (I)While He was still speaking, someone came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, “Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the [d]Teacher.”

50 But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, “Do not be afraid; (J)only believe, and she will be made well.” 51 When He came into the house, He permitted no one to go [e]in except [f]Peter, James, and John, and the father and mother of the girl. 52 Now all wept and mourned for her; but He said, (K)“Do not weep; she is not dead, (L)but sleeping.” 53 And they ridiculed Him, knowing that she was dead.

54 But He [g]put them all outside, took her by the hand and called, saying, “Little girl, (M)arise.” 55 Then her spirit returned, and she arose immediately. And He commanded that she be given something to eat. 56 And her parents were astonished, but (N)He charged them to tell no one what had happened.

41 Then a man named Jairus, a synagogue leader,(A) came and fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading with him to come to his house 42 because his only daughter, a girl of about twelve, was dying.

As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed him. 43 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding(B) for twelve years,[a] but no one could heal her. 44 She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak,(C) and immediately her bleeding stopped.

45 “Who touched me?” Jesus asked.

When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master,(D) the people are crowding and pressing against you.”

46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched me;(E) I know that power has gone out from me.”(F)

47 Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. 48 Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you.(G) Go in peace.”(H)

49 While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader.(I) “Your daughter is dead,” he said. “Don’t bother the teacher anymore.”

50 Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”

51 When he arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John and James,(J) and the child’s father and mother. 52 Meanwhile, all the people were wailing and mourning(K) for her. “Stop wailing,” Jesus said. “She is not dead but asleep.”(L)

53 They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. 54 But he took her by the hand and said, “My child, get up!”(M) 55 Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat. 56 Her parents were astonished, but he ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened.(N)
