⁵ Jesus sent out these twelve after giving them instructions: “Don’t take the road that leads to the Gentiles, and don’t enter any Samaritan^(A) town.

⁷ As you go, proclaim, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’^{(A) 8} Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those with leprosy,^[a] drive out demons.^(B) Freely you received, freely give.

⁴³ But he said to them, “It is necessary for me to proclaim the good news about the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because I was sent for this purpose.”

¹¹ When the crowds found out, they followed him. He welcomed them,^(A) spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing.

⁶⁰ But he told him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and spread the news of the kingdom of God.”^(A)

Sending Out the Seventy-Two

10 After this, the Lord appointed seventy-two^[a] others, and he sent them ahead of him in pairs to every town and place where he himself was about to go.

⁹ Heal the sick^(A) who are there, and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God^(B) has come near^(C) you.’
