¹⁰ The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?”

³⁴ Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable.^{(A) 35} So was fulfilled^(B) what was spoken through the prophet:

The Parable of the Weeds Explained

³⁶ Then he left the crowd and went into the house. His disciples came to him and said, “Explain to us the parable^(D) of the weeds in the field.”

¹⁵ Peter said, “Explain the parable to us.”^(A)

The Parable of the Tenants^(A)

³³ “Listen to another parable: There was a landowner who planted^(B) a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a winepress in it and built a watchtower.^(C) Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and moved to another place.^(D)

⁴⁵ When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard Jesus’ parables, they knew he was talking about them.

22 Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying:

³² “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near.
