³⁵ so that what was spoken through the prophet might be fulfilled:

²³ He told them, “You will indeed drink My cup.^[a] But to sit at My right and left is not Mine to give; instead, it belongs to those for whom it has been prepared by My Father.”^(A)

⁹ But as it is written:

³ (for we who have believed enter the rest), in keeping with what^[a] He has said:

And yet His works have been finished since the foundation of the world,

²⁶ Otherwise, He would have had to suffer many times since the foundation of the world. But now He has appeared one time, at the end of the ages,^(A) for the removal of sin by the sacrifice of Himself.^(B)

¹⁶ But they now desire a better place—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.^(A)

⁸ All those who live on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name was not written from the foundation of the world in the book^[a] of life^(A) of the Lamb who was slaughtered.^[b](B)

⁸ The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up from the abyss^(A) and go to destruction.^(B) Those who live on the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world^(C) will be astonished when they see the beast that was, and is not, and will be present again.^(D)
