Peter Denies Jesus

69 (A)Now Peter was sitting outside (B)in the courtyard. And a servant girl came up to him and said, “You also were with Jesus the Galilean.” 70 But he denied it before them all, saying, “I do not know what you mean.” 71 And when he went out to the entrance, another servant girl saw him, and she said to the bystanders, “This man was with Jesus (C)of Nazareth.” 72 And again he denied it with an oath: “I do not know the man.” 73 After a little while the bystanders came up and said to Peter, “Certainly you too are one of them, for (D)your accent betrays you.” 74 Then he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, “I do not know the man.” And immediately the cock crowed. 75 And Peter remembered the saying of Jesus, (E)“Before the cock crows, you will (F)deny me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly.

Peter Denies Jesus

66 (A)And as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came, 67 and seeing Peter (B)warming himself, she looked at him and said, “You also were with the Nazarene, Jesus.” 68 But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what you mean.” And he went out into the gateway[a] and (C)the cock crowed.[b] 69 And the servant girl saw him and began again to say to the bystanders, “This man is one of them.” 70 But again he denied it. And after a little while the bystanders again said to Peter, “Certainly you are one of them, for you are a Galilean.” 71 But he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, “I do not know this man of whom you speak.” 72 And immediately the cock crowed (D)a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had said to him, (E)“Before the cock crows twice, you will (F)deny me three times.” And he broke down and wept.[c]

Peter Denies Jesus Again

25 (A)Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. So they said to him, “You also are not one of his disciples, are you?” He denied it and said, “I am not.” 26 One of the servants of the high priest, a relative of (B)the man whose ear Peter had cut off, asked, “Did I not see you (C)in the garden with him?” 27 Peter again denied it, and (D)at once a cock crowed.
