27 (A)Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the (B)governor's headquarters,[a] and they gathered the whole (C)battalion[b] before him. 28 And they stripped him and put (D)a scarlet robe on him, 29 and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on his head and put a reed in his right hand. And kneeling before him, they (E)mocked him, saying, “Hail, (F)King of the Jews!” 30 And (G)they spat on him and took the reed and struck him on the head.

16 (A)And the soldiers led him away inside (B)the palace (that is, (C)the governor's headquarters),[a] and they called together the whole (D)battalion.[b] 17 And they clothed him in (E)a purple cloak, and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on him. 18 And they began to salute him, (F)“Hail, King of the Jews!” 19 And they were striking his head with a reed and (G)spitting on him and (H)kneeling down in homage to him.
