⁷ When he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees^(A) coming to the place of his baptism,^[a] he said to them, “Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?^(B)

⁴ He went away and discussed with the chief priests and temple police^(A) how he could hand Him over^(B) to them.

²⁴ As^[a] the commander of the temple police and the chief priests heard these things, they were baffled about them, as to what could come of this.
