³⁰For many years you were patient with them. By your Spirit you warned them through your prophets.^(A) Yet they paid no attention, so you gave them into the hands of the neighboring peoples.^(B)

⁸Hear me, my people,^(A) and I will warn you—
    if you would only listen to me, Israel!
⁹You shall have no foreign god^(B) among you;
    you shall not worship any god other than me.
¹⁰I am the Lord your God,
    who brought you up out of Egypt.^(C)
Open^(D) wide your mouth and I will fill^(E) it.

¹¹“But my people would not listen to me;
Israel would not submit to me.^(F)
