³³ And your sons shall ^(A)be ^[a]shepherds in the wilderness ^(B)forty years, and ^(C)bear the brunt of your infidelity, until your carcasses are consumed in the wilderness.

¹³ So the Lord’s anger was aroused against Israel, and He made them ^(A)wander in the wilderness forty years, until ^(B)all the generation that had done evil in the sight of the Lord was gone.

⁷ “For the Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hand. He knows your ^[a]trudging through this great wilderness. ^(A)These forty years the Lord your God has been with you; you have lacked nothing.” ’

⁶ For the children of Israel walked ^(A)forty years in the wilderness, till all the people who were men of war, who came out of Egypt, were ^[a]consumed, because they did not obey the voice of the Lord—to whom the Lord swore that ^(B)He would not show them the land which the Lord had sworn to their fathers that He would give us, ^(C)“a land flowing with milk and honey.”
