42 Don’t go ahead with your plan or you will be crushed by your enemies, for the Lord is not with you. 43 Don’t you remember? The Amalekites and the Canaanites are there! You have deserted the Lord, and now he will desert you.”
44 But they went ahead into the hill country, despite the fact that neither the Ark nor Moses left the camp.

42 Do not go up, because the Lord is not with you. You will be defeated by your enemies,(A) 43 for the Amalekites(B) and the Canaanites(C) will face you there. Because you have turned away from the Lord, he will not be with you(D) and you will fall by the sword.”
44 Nevertheless, in their presumption they went up(E) toward the highest point in the hill country, though neither Moses nor the ark of the Lord’s covenant moved from the camp.(F)
