11 Then Moses raised his hand and struck the rock twice with his staff; and (A)water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their livestock drank. 12 But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “(B)Since you did not trust in Me, to treat Me as holy in the sight of the sons of Israel, for that reason you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.” 13 Those were called the waters of [a](C)Meribah, [b]because the sons of Israel argued with the Lord, and He proved Himself holy among them.

11 Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water(A) gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank.
12 But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy(B) in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.”(C)
13 These were the waters of Meribah,[a](D) where the Israelites quarreled(E) with the Lord and where he was proved holy among them.(F)
