11 Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy.

12 Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace:

13 And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel.

He said about Levi:

Your Thummim and Urim belong to Your faithful one;[a]
You tested him at Massah
and contended with him at the waters of Meribah.(A)
He said about his father and mother,
“I do not regard them.”
He disregarded his brothers

Smash the loins of his adversaries and enemies,

And of Levi he said, Let thy Thummim and thy Urim be with thy holy one, whom thou didst prove at Massah, and with whom thou didst strive at the waters of Meribah;

Who said unto his father and to his mother, I have not seen him; neither did he acknowledge his brethren, nor knew his own children: for they have observed thy word, and kept thy covenant.

10 They shall teach Jacob thy judgments, and Israel thy law: they shall put incense before thee, and whole burnt sacrifice upon thine altar.

11 Bless, Lord, his substance, and accept the work of his hands; smite through the loins of them that rise against him, and of them that hate him, that they rise not again.

17 “For this is what the Lord says: David will never fail to have a man sitting on the throne of the house of Israel.(A) 18 The Levitical priests will never fail to have a man always before Me to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings, and to make sacrifices.”(B)

19 The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: 20 “This is what the Lord says: If you can break My covenant with the day and My covenant with the night so that day and night cease to come at their regular time,(C) 21 then also My covenant with My servant David(D) may be broken so that he will not have a son reigning on his throne, and the Levitical priests will not be My ministers.(E) 22 The hosts of heaven cannot be counted; the sand of the sea cannot be measured.(F) So, too, I will make the descendants of My servant David and the Levites who minister to Me innumerable.”

19 The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: 20 “This is what the Lord says: ‘If you can break my covenant with the day(E) and my covenant with the night, so that day and night no longer come at their appointed time,(F) 21 then my covenant(G) with David my servant—and my covenant with the Levites(H) who are priests ministering before me—can be broken and David will no longer have a descendant to reign on his throne.(I) 22 I will make the descendants of David my servant and the Levites who minister before me as countless(J) as the stars in the sky and as measureless as the sand on the seashore.’”

17 For thus saith the Lord; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel;

18 Neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt offerings, and to kindle meat offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.

19 And the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah, saying,

20 Thus saith the Lord; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season;

21 Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.

22 As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.
