Numbers 35:29-31
New American Bible (Revised Edition)
29 This is the statute for you throughout all your generations, wherever you live, for rendering judgment.
Judgment. 30 Whenever someone kills another, the evidence of witnesses is required to kill the murderer.(A) A single witness does not suffice for putting a person to death.
No Indemnity. 31 You will not accept compensation in place of the life of a murderer who deserves to die, but that person must be put to death.

29 “‘This is to have the force of law(A) for you throughout the generations to come,(B) wherever you live.(C)
30 “‘Anyone who kills a person is to be put to death as a murderer only on the testimony of witnesses. But no one is to be put to death on the testimony of only one witness.(D)
31 “‘Do not accept a ransom(E) for the life of a murderer, who deserves to die. They are to be put to death.
