International Standard Version
16 since they’ve been set apart for me from among the Israelis. I’ve taken them for myself instead of the first to open the womb—every firstborn of the Israelis, 17 since every firstborn of Israel belongs to me, from human beings to livestock. On the same day that I destroyed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I consecrated them to myself, 18 taking the descendants of Levi instead of every firstborn of the Israelis.

16 They are the Israelites who are to be given wholly to me. I have taken them as my own in place of the firstborn,(A) the first male offspring(B) from every Israelite woman. 17 Every firstborn male in Israel, whether human or animal,(C) is mine. When I struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, I set them apart for myself.(D) 18 And I have taken the Levites in place of all the firstborn sons in Israel.(E)
