³⁰ “But the person who acts defiantly,^[a] whether native or foreign resident, blasphemes the Lord.^(A) That person is to be cut off from his people.

¹² The person who acts arrogantly, refusing to listen either to the priest who stands there serving the Lord your God or to the judge, must die. You must purge the evil from Israel.

⁴ For it is impossible to renew to repentance those who were once enlightened, who tasted the heavenly gift, became companions with the Holy Spirit,^(A)

²⁰ For if, having escaped the world’s impurity through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,^(A) they are again entangled in these things and defeated, the last state is worse for them than the first.^{(B) 21} For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness^(C) than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy command^(D) delivered^(E) to them.^(F)

¹⁶ If anyone sees his brother committing a sin that does not bring death, he should ask, and God^[a] will give life to him—to those who commit sin that doesn’t bring death. There is sin^[b] that brings death. I am not saying he should pray about that.
