Moabu tan Israẹli jẹ
25 Nígbà tí àwọn Israẹli dúró ní Ṣittimu, àwọn ènìyàn sì bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí í ṣe àgbèrè pẹ̀lú àwọn ọmọbìnrin Moabu, 2 tí ó pè wọ́n sí ibi ẹbọ òrìṣà wọn. Àwọn ènìyàn náà jẹun wọ́n sì foríbalẹ̀ níwájú òrìṣà wọn. 3 Báyìí ni Israẹli ṣe darapọ̀ mọ́ wọn tí wọ́n sì jọ ń sin Baali-Peori. Ìbínú Olúwa sì ru sí wọn.
4 Olúwa sọ fún Mose pé; “Mú gbogbo àwọn olórí àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí, pa wọ́n kí o sì fi wọ́n kọ́ sórí igi ní gbangba nínú oòrùn níwájú Olúwa, kí ìbínú Olúwa lè kúrò ní ọ̀dọ̀ Israẹli.”
5 Mose sọ fún àwọn onídàájọ́ Israẹli, “Ẹnìkọ̀ọ̀kan yín gbọdọ̀ pa arákùnrin rẹ̀ èyí tí ó darapọ̀ ní fífi orí balẹ̀ fún Baali-Peori.”
6 Nítòótọ́ ọ̀kan lára àwọn ọmọkùnrin Israẹli sì mú obìnrin Midiani wá síwájú ojú Mose àti gbogbo ìjọ ti Israẹli wọ́n sì ń sọkún ní àbáwọlé àgọ́ ìpàdé. 7 Nígbà tí Finehasi, ọmọ Eleasari, ọmọ Aaroni, àlùfáà, rí èyí, ó fi ìjọ sílẹ̀, pẹ̀lú ọ̀kọ̀ ní ọwọ́ rẹ̀. 8 Ó sì tẹ̀lé arákùnrin Israẹli yìí lọ sínú àgọ́. Ó sì fi ọ̀kọ̀ gún àwọn méjèèjì ní àgúnyọ láti ara ọkùnrin Israẹli àti sí ara obìnrin náà. Nígbà náà ni àjàkálẹ̀-ààrùn lórí àwọn ọmọ Israẹli sì dúró; 9 ṣùgbọ́n gbogbo àwọn tí ó kú nínú àjàkálẹ̀-ààrùn náà jẹ́ ẹgbàá-méjìlá. (24,000).
10 Olúwa sì tún sọ fún Mose pé, 11 “Finehasi ọmọ Eleasari ọmọ Aaroni, àlùfáà, ti yí ìbínú mi padà kúrò lọ́dọ̀ àwọn ọmọ Israẹli: nítorí tí ó ní ìtara bí èmi náà ti ní ìtara fún iyì mi láàrín wọn, kí ó lè jẹ́ pé èmi ló pa wọ́n run nínú ìtara mi sí wọn. 12 Nítorí náà sọ fún un pé èmi ṣe májẹ̀mú àlàáfíà mi pẹ̀lú rẹ̀. 13 Òun àti irú-ọmọ rẹ̀ yóò ní májẹ̀mú láéláé fún iṣẹ́ àlùfáà, nítorí pé ó ní ìtara fún Ọlọ́run rẹ̀ láti fi yẹ́ Ọlọ́run sí, ó sì ṣe ètùtù fún àwọn ọmọ Israẹli.”
14 Orúkọ ọmọ Israẹli tí a pa pẹ̀lú obìnrin Midiani náà ni Simri, ọmọ Salu, olórí ilé kan nínú àwọn ọmọ Simeoni. 15 Orúkọ ọmọbìnrin Midiani náà tí a pa ní Kosbi ọmọbìnrin Suri, tí ṣe olóyè àwọn ẹ̀yà kan nínú ìdílé kan ní Midiani.
16 Olúwa sì tún sọ fún Mose pé, 17 “Ka àwọn ará Midiani sí ọ̀tá, kí o sì pa wọ́n, 18 nítorí pé wọ́n ṣe sí yín gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọ̀tá nígbà tí wọ́n tàn yín nípa ìṣẹ̀lẹ̀ Peori, àti arábìnrin wọn Kosbi ọmọbìnrin ìjòyè Midiani kan, obìnrin tí a pa nígbà tí àjàkálẹ̀-ààrùn ṣẹlẹ̀ nítorí Peori.”

Moab Seduces Israel
25 While Israel was staying in Shittim,(A) the men began to indulge in sexual immorality(B) with Moabite(C) women,(D) 2 who invited them to the sacrifices(E) to their gods.(F) The people ate the sacrificial meal and bowed down before these gods. 3 So Israel yoked themselves to(G) the Baal of Peor.(H) And the Lord’s anger burned against them.
4 The Lord said to Moses, “Take all the leaders(I) of these people, kill them and expose(J) them in broad daylight before the Lord,(K) so that the Lord’s fierce anger(L) may turn away from Israel.”
5 So Moses said to Israel’s judges, “Each of you must put to death(M) those of your people who have yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor.”(N)
6 Then an Israelite man brought into the camp a Midianite(O) woman right before the eyes of Moses and the whole assembly of Israel while they were weeping(P) at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 7 When Phinehas(Q) son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, the priest, saw this, he left the assembly, took a spear(R) in his hand 8 and followed the Israelite into the tent. He drove the spear into both of them, right through the Israelite man and into the woman’s stomach. Then the plague against the Israelites was stopped;(S) 9 but those who died in the plague(T) numbered 24,000.(U)
10 The Lord said to Moses, 11 “Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, the priest, has turned my anger away from the Israelites.(V) Since he was as zealous for my honor(W) among them as I am, I did not put an end to them in my zeal. 12 Therefore tell him I am making my covenant of peace(X) with him. 13 He and his descendants will have a covenant of a lasting priesthood,(Y) because he was zealous(Z) for the honor(AA) of his God and made atonement(AB) for the Israelites.”(AC)
14 The name of the Israelite who was killed with the Midianite woman(AD) was Zimri son of Salu, the leader of a Simeonite family.(AE) 15 And the name of the Midianite woman who was put to death was Kozbi(AF) daughter of Zur, a tribal chief of a Midianite family.(AG)
16 The Lord said to Moses,(AH) 17 “Treat the Midianites(AI) as enemies(AJ) and kill them.(AK) 18 They treated you as enemies when they deceived you in the Peor incident(AL) involving their sister Kozbi, the daughter of a Midianite leader, the woman who was killed when the plague came as a result of that incident.”
