6 who, being in the form of God, counted it not a prize to be equal to God, 7 but made himself of no reputation, and took on him the form of a servant, and became like humankind, 8 and was found in his appearance as a man. He humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

6 Who, being in very nature[a] God,(A)
did not consider equality with God(B) something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing(C)
by taking the very nature[b] of a servant,(D)
being made in human likeness.(E)
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death(F)—
even death on a cross!(G)
