¹² Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Lord has ^[a]performed all His work ^(A)on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, that He will say, ^(B)“I will punish the fruit of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his haughty looks.”

¹³ “Then you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land—even the kings who sit on David’s throne, the priests, the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem—^(A)with drunkenness!

^6 (A)Utterly^[a] slay old and young men, maidens and little children and women; but ^(B)do not come near anyone on whom is the mark; and ^(C)begin at My sanctuary.” ^(D)So they began with the elders who were before the ^[b]temple.

^31 (A)For if they do these things in the green wood, what will be done in the dry?”

¹⁷ For the time has come ^(A)for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, ^(B)what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?
