Proverbs 14:12-14

Good News Translation

¹²^(A)What you think is the right road may lead to death.

¹³Laughter may hide sadness. When happiness is gone, sorrow is always there.

¹⁴Bad people will get what they deserve. Good people will be rewarded for their deeds.^[a]

Proverbs 14:12-14

New International Version

¹²There is a way that appears to be right,^(A)
but in the end it leads to death.^(B)

¹³Even in laughter^(C) the heart may ache,
and rejoicing may end in grief.

¹⁴The faithless will be fully repaid for their ways,^(D)
and the good rewarded for theirs.^(E)
